Y'all have the redoutable Andrew Wood (a long-time Buddha subscriber) and his
friends on the tandem bicycle list to thank for this one.
I'll let him do the intro:

I have a slight tendency to hemorrhoids that tend to come from too long
sitting at my desk, hard BMs from developing a fluid shortage while
cycling, and similar causes. However, I have controlled that tendency by
regular, conservative treatment.
After each defecation I clean thoroughly with soap and water, and insert
my finger to push flat any slight bump that I feel. When I visit other
offices for any lengthy period of time I carry in my brief case a small
sponge in a plastic envelope and a small squeeze bottle of liquid soap.
I wet the sponge before entering the stall. That enables me to clean
while in the toilet stall. Then I wash my hands at the normal washbasin.
I have had no further trouble since starting this regime some fifteen
years ago. Besides, it keeps one's cycling shorts cleaner!
