I too am a sufferer. I do seem to be able to handle store credit (i.e. interest free periods to purchase goods) ok - but in all other circumstances I'm totally crap at managing credit. I know the theory, but in practice I'm always "spend, spend, spend".<br><br>The only way I've been able to break the spell is to not have any credit cards. The only debt I carry now is in our home loan - I have two Visa debits (one for business, one for personal) for internet/phone transactions. I tried living without any Visa card etc. and just found it too difficult - I was always using my wife's card for stuff, which wasn't fair on her. When I changed banks they offered a Visa debit option, which was perfect and I've been free from the problems of PFA since ;)<br><br>I've also noticed the change in my perception of "stuff" too - I am happy to wait. I'm (mildly) more patient with purchasing - saving up for larger items, being more cautious in my purchasing of others. Some of that is a result of it being my own cash going into the purchase - other aspects are a result of a small apartment and sustainability considerations.</p> I love that term “Profound Financial Aphasia”.
