Robert Anton Wilson needs our help
Published by timbomb October 3rd, 2006 in Integral, Pop CultureIn his recent blog entry, Douglas Rushkoff voices a plea to lend financial help to Robert Anton Wilson who is in the midst of dying. Douglas gives a good summary of RAW’s literary contributions. I’d add that he did a lot to interpret and translate a lot of the practical material from people like Timothy Leary, G. I. Gurdjieff and Aleister Crowley for a pop-postmodern audience. He created a pop-psycho-spirituality which was one of the few bearable garden paths to transcendence for people like me who couldn’t stomach mythology with their practice.
Also, possibly of interest to integral folk, he produced popular renditions of Leary’s 8 Circuit Model Of Consciousness - a developmental pathway to awakening that was contemporaneous with Wilber’s stuff but a lot more crazy and fun.
The guy’s got no cash and his ending isn’t that pleasant. If you have the means to help out, please do.
