… and then he appeared… In Seattle!
So, from where I’m sitting at my friend Woody’s kitchen table, I can see the Space Needle on an overcast day in late Spring.
Seattle is a beautiful town. I don’t mean every building is gorgeous (this neighbourhood has a troubling romance with chamferboard, for instance), but it has gently rolling hills, you keep getting glimpses of Puget sound and it has great little neighbourhoods.
Woody and Liz pointed out to me the local custom of cars coming to a dead stop for pedestrians wanting to cross the road… or looking like they want to cross the road… or pausing to think about which street to take next… We’d stop at a corner to talk about where to have coffee and slowly realise we were causing a traffic jam. It’s odd for Sydneysiders because we’re used to having to pause on pedestrian crossings to make sure the cars have seen us before crossing.
A few final pics… the obligatory trip to Lakeview cemetery to visit Sifu’s grave:
The glasshouse behind the Asian Art Musem:
Pepe’s garden near Woody and Liz’s place, built by a local guy as a place for people to visit and enjoy - full of veges, flower and herbs:

Surely those photos can’t be Seattle….the sun’s out in several of them!
Hi from Sydney and, mate, be on your best behaviour please. No Earpy shenanigans to distress the natives.
