Out In The Cold
Published by timbomb June 6th, 2006 in Miscellaneous
There’s an article in today’s Sydney Morning Herald about the demise of a series of IT research centres in Australia, the one I worked for among them. Because I’m the only staff member left in Sydney, they photographed me for the article - which is a strange distinction.
Although the result sounds a bit tragic, I’m happy that the journalist homed in on the fairly inept way all the closures happened and loss of potential that resulted. Plus I get a great final quote:
>Dr Mansfield accuses Australian governments of neglect rather than malice. “I think it’s just not on their radar. It doesn’t moo, or bleat so it’s not an Australian industry, it’s that simple.”
… plus it’s a nice picture.
