Imagine desparate villainies of scale
Shifting flesh, long-lasting hunger
Bereft of late show cruelties
We snipe and croon of hate best forgotten
Thrown Tong-sparkling back in distant stars.

My arteries confess your efficacious pull
Your whirlpool bumps my whirlpool
Eddies chafe between us
Who winds down?

Imagine the collapse of history, gobbled snicker snackfood
Mr Future licks her lips and grins.

Causation: hammer strikes nail => nail presses home
Hammer and nail strike, hammer seduced by flat, pointed nail
Nonchalantly posed against pliant wood in its turn eager
To part for the urgent thrust of iron
Hard, lusty fastening hardware
Visions of joints, beams, frames, rooves,
Elegant, though inconsistent, asymmetries of teak or pine
Babel tower slouching against the setting sun.

Oh, yes.
It wants it alright.
Nail and hammer strike to simply silence the pleading.

So, Mr Future whetted, arching out from melancholic grumbling cogball to agitated emptiness
Claps famished eyes on some distant, natural cousin of her prior entrée
And before anyone even noticed the silly thing was gone

What happens if we don’t have progress to hang the blame on?
What happens if we realise we aren’t so much discovering as remembering?

Is history about remembering? Or Forgetting?
Is science about noticing? Or ignoring?

Late upon the dell, my name remembers Spring
