Stephen Shapiro — Innovation and Goal-Free Living
Published by timbomb June 24th, 2005 in IntegralSo this guy Stephen Shapiro is about to publish a book called Goal-Free Living. Somehow I figured someone must have written this book before, I went looking for it about five years ago. A lot of what he has to say really resonates with me and with the way I think about life and productivity.
Goals have struck me a really weak tool for shaping productivity. Perhaps they were good when a whole generation of people had been through military training and upbringing was stricter, but they’re lousy for me.
The slogan “use a compass, not a map to guide [your] way through life” fits much better with my worldview.
